Short eared Owl.

Did toy with the idea of lightening parts of the bird then decided to leave it alone.

Thanks for looking and your comments on my last post.

I rather like the dark, moody feeling to this. It seems appropriate for an owl image. And given the frontal stare, the central placement works well for me. I'm wondering if you might sharpen it up just a tad.

Thanks Bill, I did try it with another round of sharping but it looked a bit crunchy, was trying to keep the dark moody feeling rather than tampering with it a lot.

Thanks Keith.

I tried tweaking it to lighten it up, but concluded it is fine as is... but agree that it may be a bit soft. Sharpening it a tad
may help

Wonder how this looks with a round of sharpening.

Excellent image, Keith. The extra sharpening was a good idea.

Hi Keith, Great looking image I really liked the 'soft' chest feathers on the original, but now it has been sharpened I dont know whats best now :e3, Great work well done

There's a lot I like about the original image, Keith. That stare straight at you, and the owls brighter side pupil much smaller, and the either early morning or late afternoon sun. Very nice BG. By virtue of sharpening the contrast is increased, so in this instance I might sharpen a tad selectively on the face and bring back the tones of the original. Well done.

Great moody image. The two different size of pupils is really hypnotizing but I love it. Maybe a tad too centered for my taste, might try cropping a bit from the left. I'm on the fence ("har har") about the barb wire. Might not be easy, but I would try to clone it out to see how it would turn out. Matter of taste here as I don't enjoy man-made objects in images. But nonetheless, an great image. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Keith, good eye contact here, and I like the soft light. Your RP with the additional sharpening on the head has turned out nicely.

Nice frame Keith. The repost with a sharpening looks much better. I might try to lighten the right eye a little too. We'll done.
