What a cutie John. The yellow coloured water fits well with the colours on the bird. Lovely feather details. Nice work This image reminds me of one you posted over a year ago with the bluetit bathing. I was new to this site and bird photography, and that image really inspired me:S3:

Yes, Wow! John, add me to the long list of those you have inspired. Attitudes and techniques may have changed, but the shots you do, regardless of technique, are timeless and stand up to anything more "modern." You are an artist and all the modern equipment and technique can't create that aspect in images. This one is just stunning!

PS -- never built that pond you were encouraging, but I'll give it a go this summer!

It sounds like your images and style have inspired and encouraged many here John. That's a beautiful thing. I don't know you, or what you're referring to... but it would be a shame IMHO to end your snapping days based on "times, attitudes, techniques, and people" changing. Who cares? My encouragement to you would be to continue doing what you obviously love to do, in the way you love to do it. That's all that should matter to each of us. :-)

SUperb image, very nice yellow and yellow. I too agree that you shouldn't end your shooting days based on "times, attitudes, techniques, and people". Do what you love and enjoy it as much as you can regardless of what changes. Keep up your great work!

Thanks all for your encouragement. Apart from some things I won't elaborate on, one of my problems is the cold. I just can't handle it like I could. Rather restricts what I can do these days, and no bird picture is worth pneumonia.

John, what an absolutely stunning image. This is yet one more of your exceptional pool images. The detail, quality of light, complimentary colors reflected in water, and the moment the tail is literally bending the water.

As much as I, and I'm sure everyone else, wants and will continue to enjoy your posting wonderful and inspiring images, you're absolutely correct in your assessment of ones own well being.
