Lovely rich colors on this bird. Nice pose. Wish we had birds like this around here, I'm jealous. Was this handheld or on a tripod? I like the bokeh but the BG is a bit intense and does compete with the subject IMO. Maybe try to de-sat/soften it somewhat to give the bird more pop? I might also trim the top.

I was just in the Lower Rio Grande Valley and saw and shot these lovely birds for the first time! You got a very nice pose with the entire bird visible and the over-the-shoulder look is always very nice. I would crop from the top about halfway to the head, and wish there was more room at the bottom -- the tail is uncomfortably close to the edge.
The BG does compete a little -- good suggestion by Edward.
If you can bring these guys to a feeder I'd try to find a perch that looks a little more natural, maybe more curved without such a blunt end.
The whites look good -- they are very white -- and the catchlight looks interesting.
Were you on a tripod? The SS could be a little slow. Is it a significant crop?
