Yes, yet another Snowy Owl, but these animals are so majestic and beautiful that one cannot help post another one! Late afternoon light, but still bright enough for fast shutter speeds. She approached and flew by very fast and I was glad I was able to keep focus on the eyes!

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/4000s., f/7.1, ISO 800, natural light, handheld, ~75% FF, baited.

Dan, you have a really good habit here of posting Snowy Owls. This is another real beauty. Face detail is wonderful to look at, and then there are the eyes. I'm also a fan of the banking pose, it adds some speed and lets us see the oof tail. Unlikely I'll get tired of viewing before you get tired of posting these wonderful birds.

Love the big old flying barrel look to this...
Nice work getting him that sharp at such a close distance.

What a great in-your-face shot. I'm loving the angled wings and tail. Like John I could never get tired of Snowies (would you be so kind as to send some to Austin, TX?). Keep them coming Dan!

great close-up! I remember my wildlife instructor in college feeding mice to Spotted Owls so the class could see them, is that your bait of choice also? Happy owl and cameraman!

Technically speaking it is very impressive. It is coming right at you, perfect exposure, good DOF and I really like your crop here. Super image!

Hi Dan, I had to push this girl back into my screen, as she's popping right out. :w3 Great focus on the eyes, well exposed on the plumage, and just love that angled tail - showing how they manouvre in the air. Well captured.

Dan - you've captured the essence of a hunting Snowy. Well done.

Talk about "in your face"!!
Love, love the feather details on the face.
IQ and sharpness are superb ( especially difficult to obtain on a head on shot) .
I would clone out the stuff in the RLC,
Gail

Joe and Gail, I see your point about the lower tight corner. I like the colour, I may smooth it out.
