There are a couple of dozen old pilings like this in this location at the mouth of the south arm of the Fraser R.---all that remains of a 19th century salmon cannery that was torn down in 1972. Sometimes every post will have a cormorant sitting on it and in the oolichan season it is a prime feeding spot for them.

That was a pretty nice landing. the image has a number of issues, the bird is facing away from us, there some distracting elements in the FG. it is also very soft and noisy. some of these issues are probably coming from post processing

Fun seeing the cormorant hop and lovely light and colors. This image doesn't look sharp to me.

I'm surprised it is that grainy at ISO 400 or is a big crop?. Take a look at the RAW and see what happened.

Oops, I've been running so fast my feet didn't touch the ground on this one. Thank you all for your comments. Yes this is quite a big crop. I have to work on getting closer. This particular site is well suited to that .
