A more traditional image from me!
Canon 1 DX 600mm II
ISO 400

F 7.1
We have started feeding the eagles again. The area where we feed the eagles is about 20 feet above a little lagoon. We throw the fish or chicken down onto the ice and the eagles fly down to get the treats. Because we are at a higher elevation I can get these eye level gliding shots. Wind has to be from the SW in order for me to get this full frontal angle and the SW wind only occurs once in a blue moon. This past Sunday was the day!
PP: This is FF cropped to pano, levels, DE at 2% to eagle, USM to JPEG.

Excellent exposure and details. The head turn and the eye contact makes this image quite striking in my book. Pano crop works well for the pose, I'd just move the bird further up in the frame, but that comes down to personal tastes.
Nicely done as always Gail.

Love this image - classic pose. Just how we always expect an eagle to look. Sharp and perfectly exposed.
Thanks for sharing.

Nice and sharp - almost to the level of a 'painting' feel, Gail! I probably would have stepped back just a tad on the sharpening but that's just me. A keeper for sure, well done!

Absolutely superb Gail - such detail, it makes me so envious, I wish I could pop out to feed eagles every now and then!

A technically perfect shot of this great looking adult and I really like the head turn that has lit up the face so well. I think the sharpness look perfect but I do agree with Sid about putting it further up in the frame.
Great work as usual Gail

It must be awesome to have regular access to subjects like these!

That said, you still have to take your chances, and this is a great example of making the most of the situation. Great pose and details, looking forward to seeing more

Hi Gail, looks like your blue moon arrived. :w3 Great eye level capture here, and love the head turn, and how the white head is framed against the brown wing feathers. Exposure spot on, sharp throughout, and the eagle pops in the image, even against a plain sky BG.

Wonderful turn of the head here Gail-and it's hard to get , but beautiful detail on the head feathers.

Great frame from a technical point of view, I like it but a bit more drama and action would take it a nudge up
