Firecrest (Regulus ignicapillus)
One from my little woodland pool.
Smallest European bird along with the Goldcrest. It is an inch smaller than a Blue Tit. Just shows that if you stick to a hide for long enough something eventually happens. I only got about 8 shots. No camera shake – but I had !!

So tiny it floated around on that leaf it is sitting on.
Re worked. I still reckon the old D100 and D200 were better noisewise than the modern D71000 This is a big crop- about 50% of the frame.

PS If anyone can tll me what those white whispy things are to the right of the bird I would be grateful. They turn up on quite a few of my pool shots.
