Seeing Roy's gorgeous shots of the Northern Pygmy-Owl prompted me to go back and look at my files from my trip to Cuba in 2013. I found several unprocessed owl shots including this Cuban Pygmy-Owl at a nesting hole on a large tree trunk. This species is endemic to Cuba, but similar to the reddish Pacific Coast race of our Northern Pygmy-Owl. C&C always appreciated.

Grace, what I meant to say was that I hadn't processed it until now. It lay dormant in my files for the better part of 2 years, until I re-discovered it. Thank you.

Bill, very sweet image, love how you position the owl in the frame. Would love to see one myself. TFS. Loi

Nice look at this beautiful little owl. The techs look perfect and I like the pose but something about the tree that I don't love. Even though it's probably natural, it has a man made feel to it. Maybe it is to flat?
Great job finding this owl Bill.

what a find Bill! you got some good eye contact too with good topside details. I'm with Dave re the perch, I would crop this one tighter to reduce the impact of the perch

Thank you all. I rather liked the texture of the tree trunk, so left the bird small in the frame. But I'll admit that it's a large trunk for a small owl, and thus the perch looks rather flat. I'll experiment with a tighter crop.
