On Wednesday I made a 3.5 hour trek north along snow-covered highways to the town of North Bay, Ontario to photograph Duchesnay Falls, which is a very picturesque waterfall during the summer months. I wanted to create a few winter images of this scene. The actual waterfall was completely frozen over, but I was able to find a bit of running water upstream from the falls. On this day it was just a tad chilly with the outside temperature hovering at -26 degrees C. Such cold temps do help a great deal in creating interesting ice patterns though.

I love the subdued colors with great contrast and the slow SS on rushing water against the frozen ice. Wonderful S-curve going away. Hope you were roped to a tree.

Gee -- that's only -15 F. Not sure I've ever even been where it's that cold. I had to go get a blanket to continue writing... It was 55 degrees F here today (about 12-13 C).

This is Wonderful Andrew... I love the shutter selection, that water is perfect IMHO. Can't imaging walking for 3.5 hours in that sort of weather to take a photo...That's special dedication. I have been doing engine component testing at that temperature in a freezer here at work, I'm good for about 10 minutes in there at max wearing a polar suit..

Thanks Diane and Don, much appreciated. As long as the wind is behaving I do not mind the cold temps...I dress in multiple layers...the hard part is operating the camera controls with bare hands :S3:

This image I like much more Andrew. That looks great to me and the rocks and trees suit in this one much better than in the vertical version :w3

Ciao Anette

An engaging view/comp and the water/snow/ice combo makes for interesting viewing, Andrew.

Now this one is spot on Andrew. Much more to appeal to the eye. Well done. TFS.
