Hello, this image was taken a month ago while on a weekend trip to Depoe Bay, Oregon. It is a wave-action blow-hole. It was a dark image so I used HDR to bring out the foreground.

Hi Terry,
The lightening of a dark image rarely works, and this is no exception unfortunately...I feel the colours a washed out quite badly. Sorry...!
Its a nice piece of timing on what would have been a spectacular image. Have you tried processing it normally? I think its worth checking alternative processing methods as its worth the effort IMHO..

Nice spot worthy of a shot, Terry! A lot of purplish colours in the rocks, water & clouds which probably indicates over PP'ing or incorrect WB. I would have loved a wider shot...

Very nice catch! I'd love to see it with a less heavy hand on the HDR processing.

Nice splash here Terry but I do agree with the above comments - midtones look washed out and HDR looks overcooked to me.
I'm sure you can get a lot more out of it by double-processing the RAW in a manual exposure blend?

Agree with the others on the processing, when you say the foreground was dark by how much was it underexposed if its 2 or 3 stops you should be able to pull plenty of detail without much of a penalty.

Hi Terry, looks like a very heavy-handed Shadow / Highlight Adjustment was used. If you start over and select Nik's Detail Extrator it will pull out some wonderful details in the wave crash.
