Hello again,
Here is a Dalmatian pelican captured today.Wintertime in Bulgaria is very pleasing time for bird photography. The local pond is full of water birds seeking food.
Nikon d7000
Nikkor 500mm f4 P + Nikon tc-14b
f8, 1/6000, 160 ISO
Little light adjustment plus sharpening in post, also got rid of parts of birds in the corners, were messing with the composition.

Sorry, shutter speed was 1/1600, not 1/6000, bad typing.

Cool shot, like the interaction with the water.

great action Shot, the timing couldn't be better, but I may say I would want the eye to be more in focus.

Very nice catch! It's so frustrating when there are other birds in the way of a great shot. I think the issue with the eye is just that it is small and close to the limit of resolution -- the DOF seems to be very good. Some local contrast and sharpening could help.
It wouldn't work for an action shot like this, but someday I'm going to bring a pea shooter.

Thank you all!Diane, you are right - seems like the head is getting on the edge of DOF.Still in focus though, when I check the full res picture. After all, not very easy to get it perfect with manual focus.
I expect to have even better shots soon, the season is great for herons, pelicans, cormorans and great bitterns.I am very exited about it:)

The middle parts of both the near and far wing look sharp, and I think the head is in between those distances. I think it's just pixels on the subject of the very small eye, which a little judicious sharpening could help. But don't sharpen your master file, just a resized one for JPEG output.
If this is manual focus, you get a gold star!

Yes, it's manual focus, the lens is only manual focus (Poor man's supertele:))
Here is it with a bit sharpen on the eye and end of beak.

Yes, I think this brings the picture up nicely. Looks like a bit more saturation here, too. Well done!
I look forward to seeing more from you!
