I took this image in May, and did not originally process it as, it is not the best head angle. Also there was a sandbar that I cloned out that seemed to extend the wings. Have a great new Year.

Robert:

Glad you took the time. I find the pose effective because of how it fits into their behaviour. Nice job on sand bank remova. Like the drops off the foot. Exposure very nice.

I could see a sliver more room below for his gaze to go into, to help further tell the fishing story.

Cheers

I'm with Randy on this one. The eye may be a little over sharpened?

Gorgeous! Nice to see it in midair! I'd never have known you cloned anything.

Fantastic wing spread, and I like the "hovering" pose. I'm OK with the current crop. The water colour is different in the two "gaps" between the wings and body, I imagine from the sandbar you removed - worth fixing.

Elegant...then again it is a heron...and a beautiful one at that. Sharpness and details look good to me. I like the crop choice too. I keyed right in on what Daniel mentioned too...the coloration of the water under the wingpits is way too different than the rest of the water's coloration....

Neat shot! I'd definitely look into a crop with a bit more below, since that is where the stare is leading us.
