We found this ferruginous hawk when driving around with Dave Salem. He stands out against the darker BG

shot with 1DX and 600II + 1.4X III. ISO 2500, f/5.6 at 1/2000sec. hand held from vehicle.

Hope you like it

Nice opportunity grabbed with that BG, setting off the texture and detail of its breast. We see them occasionally in the Sierra foothills and always a treat. One odd thing distracts me from the beautiful sharpness of the bill...what might that be hanging down on the far side under the bill?

This is a beautiful portrait Arash.
This image has one of my favorite BG colors ie that gun metal grey.
As always great IQ and nice to see the talons wrapped so clearly. Good comp with that vertical perch really tying things up nicely,

As captivating as your flight images are, Arash this portrait for me is one of your best. We are all familiar with your IQ and attention to finest detail, but in this image one can sense the softness of the chest feathers, see the strength in those talons, and I find myself wanting to study this beautiful raptor at length. Doesn't hurt to have gorgeous light and that great BG.

Lovely image, Arash. All the points covered above: great bg, perch, pose, exposure (and a bird I've yet to see). You can almost feel the fluffiness of the breast feathers. Well done.

What a stunning raptor and portrait. The perch and its curve work very nicely here as do flowing feathers and killer BG.

Another excellent frame Arash, you certainly make the most of your opportunities. Great flowing lines, and the hawk has given you a lovely proud pose
