A very pleasing grouping. For my taste, a lower contrast would suit the lighting more by opening up the darkest tones. The histogram is pushed way to the left.

Diane, I agree there is high contrast but the real scene had even greater contrast, I think I should have had the presence of mind to shoot AEB and then layer the images to produce the best scenario.

I'm often surprised at the amount of contrast that a raw converter can start with in soft-light scenes. But I usually find I can do as well with the Shadows and Highlights sliders as I can with HDR. The raw converters I know will do some processing behind the scenes that we don't always know about, and that aren't always optimum.

Hi Jon. A very eye-pleasing grouping of fungi and I like your comp. I'm wondering if the fungi could stand a little more sharpening? (Or maybe it's just my eyes and these reading glasses. :S3:) Very well done!
