OK -- somebody else has these guys! (And that camera!) Nice crest on this one! I like the iridescence on the black feathers and detail in the white breast feathers.

Maybe the reds could be more saturated? And I'd be tempted to tone down the light area in the LL, although it might be tricky.

Nice shot, though!

Thanks, Diane. I'm just starting to play with the camera and there is so much to learn (even though I'm coming from a 7D). I'm very impressed with the AF, but I'm not even sure I have the settings down right. Focus runs circles around my 7D already, though.

I'm going to go back and play with the LL a bit.

A couple of days ago someone posted a link on one of the forums to a Canon AF guide for the camera. Very thorough. Some new stuff from my 5D3, and quite a bit if an upgrade from the original 7D, I'd assume.

Very Nice...All I mostly get is Downy and Hairy Woodys. Really nice detail and as Dianne said the red on its head could use some more Saturation, very interesting background. The red spot that leads into a mound, kind of draws my eye away from the subject a little bit.

I like this a lot
Agree about the bright bits in the background. But they aren't a deal breaker for me.

Hi Ian. Very nice feather detail. I agree that you could tone down the highlights in the background, but my eye is attracted to the colors of the bird. I would love to see one of these birds close some day.
