The famous Zabriskie Point in Death Valley, over run with photographers at sunrise so I went at 4:30 to
get night photos and had the place to myself.
There was a partial moon above me that lighted the scene.

This is quite beautiful Dan...Nicely composed and exposed with beautiful detail in the hills especially... and well done on the early getup. I need to develop those sort of habits myself. My only niggle is the faint halo over the ridgeline LHS which is becomes more obvious at the intersection of the distant ridge mid frame. Easy fix I would have thought..

Thanks Don, I agree on the halo, sloppy PP, lightened the sky a tad and messed up.
I appreciate your critique.

Very nice, love that place, was there two years ago. Agree with Don about the halo.

Wonderful nightscape here Dan, my only suggestion would be to take a bit off the top

This works very well, Dan. I too noticed the halo. What tecnhique did you use to brighten the sky up? A luminosity mask of the brights on an inverted (negative) layer of the scene should have given you a nice "darks" selection to work from - which can then be blended with "screen" mode to avoid halos. Overall the mood, lighting and tonality is great.
Great compositional depth too.
