Captured this image in November of 2013 in a local preserve. After observing him for a bit he decided to give me a nice wing stretch giving me a view of his yellow side patch and a bit of yellow rump. Yes he didn't give me the BPN head turn. C&C welcome.

D3s, Nikon 500mm + 1.4 tc, 1/500, f 8.0, ISO 1250, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal head.

Few distracting branches removed in cs6.

Nice looking bird Geoff. I like the pose. Maybe a wee bit noise in the BG and on the wing tips. Good capture and thanks for sharing

Neat pose and I like the curved perch. I like the leg positions and how they play off each other (one horizontal and one vertical). The colours in the background look good but there are a few too many distraction in it IMO, especially in the upper right corner and wingtip area. I also find the details rather coarse and grainy as posted.

Hi Geoffrey, cool pose with the semi raised wings, and a nice eye level capture. Nice thin perch too. I too, am seeing quite a bit of noise throughout the image.

Nice shot I get the impression you applied some NR to the background and not the subject? I like the pose, maybe even out the background a little?

Thank you all for comments, and I agree there is a bit to much noise in the wing.
