This is the same white pelican couple, at the J.N. "Ding" Darling NWR on Sanibel Island, Florida, that I posted recently. But here, they are shown in a more intimate relationship. The shot was originally made vertical, to capture the birds' reflections. But with the reflections disrupted by ripples in the water, I felt that they did not make a positive contribution to this image. So I cropped the image to a horizontal frame, to eliminate most of the reflections.

As always, your comments and suggestions are most welcome.

Still nice Norm but I think I prefered the other shot This one seems a bit "tight" Still a fine image though,

I do like the composition of this with just the 2 white pelicans and the surrounding blue and no other details. I also like the nice strong compositional lines created by the bills. Would like the eye and head of the left pelican to be more in focus. It is that almost coy look from this pelican towards the other that adds personality to this and engages the viewer. I find myself wanting to add a caption :S3:.

Thanks John and Nancy. I agree that the neck scratch in the prior post showed character. But it is a bonding pair, and that perhaps is shown better here. Sorry, Nancy, that I couldn't think of a better title. Any suggestions would be welcome. :S3:

Hi Norm,
I light the light and the poses very much.
I find the composition a bit tight for my taste.
The color of the water is very unusual. If this color is accurate then please disregard the following comment. I wonder if the color balance is off a bit?

Thanks, Gail. I agree with you and John about a little more space being a good idea, but that's how it was framed. Adding more canvas would be tricky because of the water ripples.
