I've generally considered Common Grackles to be basically black. But when a marauding horde descended on my feeders the other day, and the filtered sun hit some of the males, their colors really lit up. This one has just spotted an opening on a feeder, and is about to hop to it.
D7000, 500f4, ISO 2000, 1/2500s @ f/7.1 manual, fill @ -2.0.

Good image Bill. I like the determination look on the face. Great colours. They are like our Starlings over here. In the shade they look bland, but, in the sun the colours come alive. Well done and thanks for sharing

Spectacular sheen you captured here Bill, sometimes the harsh light works to advantage. I like the composition you have chosen, nice feather detail, it all works for me. Well done. Regards, Ian.
