I spent some time yesterday photographing ducks in the shade to see what the high ISO performance of the 7D Mark II was like. Here's a Wood Duck from that shoot. I have no intention of pushing the 7D2 to ISO 8000 on any kind of a regular basis, but it's nice to know that I can if I absolutely need the shot.

Canon 7D Mark II, 400 mm f/5.6, 1/800, ISO 8,000. manual exposure, hand held

Here's a version with DPP processing only (default sharpening, default chrominance NR, and slightly reduced luminance NR).

Minimal or big Doug? I was just was reading/looking at Thorsten M images of white Lion cubs for Canon, impressive at 16,000, likewise your at 8,000.

The cropped dimensions are 4078 x 2725 (uncropped dimensions are 5472 x 3648). Here's what the full frame file looks like.

Looks really good Doug, I prefer the top one, guessing after DPP you took it into PS?
I've shot mine around 2000iso and been very happy. After the first week in hand I can tell the camera is more then capable I'm just stumbling a bit with learning DPP.

Doug:
Looks very nice, wonderful to have that flexibility in a crop frame camera.

Ok Nikon, the qauntlet has been thrown. Will you pick it up?

Cheers
