As a follow-up to yesterday's Brown Thrasher post, here's another in the Mimidae family -- this time a Northern Mockingbird -- giving a similar pose. From a different patch of New Jersey woods, taken about a month ago.

The pose, background and sharpness are fine. I don't know this species well but it appears the breast has had some highlight recovery?

I like everything besides the HA. he sure chose the perfect spot on the perch!

The whites look good on my monitor and I don't mind the HA at all. I like the upward stare. The techs and details look good and I really like the BG too. Well done Bill

Excellent exposure for this light bird Bill and I like the way its chosen the top of the triangle to perch!
The colourful BG gives the composition that extra bit of lift.

Beautiful image of old faithful, Bill. As common as the Northern Mockingbird is in these parts, I'll always try to capture a new and interesting pose such as you've done here. Great BG too.

A very nice image overall, I just think a better head angle would have been super. The bill is parallel to the sensor, and that is OK, but its the head cocked backwards the throws me off a bit here. Good details, nice perch, great BG...and it looks like it was in the middle of a mimicking serenade :-)

I like the composition, sharpness and clean BG. I do wish for a little better HA but its fine as presented. Nice image Bill.

Thanks everyone. Yes, Adrian, I think I did use a little highlight recovery. As posted, I don't believe the whites are hot.

And yes, Daniel, I agree about the head angle. He is just about to burst into song. I tried to catch him with his beak more open, but each time he started singing (which he did often), he turned his head up and away.
