Interesting image, Judy. Not the usual pose for a woodpecker. I like it! It looks like it was pretty bright out and you handled it very well. What is the stump? A palm of some sort?

Nice picture, from the thumbnail I knew exactly where it was taken.
Light is little harsh, but love the pose and eye details.
With all this rain I have not been able to go out.

Hi Bonnie thanks for the comments. It was around 9 o'clock in the morning and the light is quite bright down here in Florida at that time. The tree is a dead palm and it is usually taken over by a resident anhinga so it will be interesting to see who wins and can call it home. They are just in the process off building a nest so hopefully we will have the opportunity to see some babies.

Great image. The light is a little harsh, however you handled it well. The bird stands out nicely against the dark background.
