You know winter is just around the corner when these guys start showing up! Here is one of three individuals that hung out together at a local beach on a cold, wet, and windy day. They still managed to relax on the beach...here is one of them offering a stretch before heading out near water's edge to feed on some bits and pieces.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metring, 1/500s., f/5.6, ISO 800, small crop for comp, eye work, one darker pebble removed near left edge, minor bill clean up.

Wonderful low point of view and technically superb. I don't know how you consistently turn out such exemplary work with your 7D. Regards, Ian

Lovely. In my experience, these birds are not easy to approach and the relaxed wing stretch is wonderful. I would trade a bit of the foreground for some more of the green up top if you have it.

Lovely shot Dan, in general very low viewpoints work when birds are on the ground, in this case I wish you had been a little higher and then there would have been less of the OOF sand at the base, otherwise top notch.

Totally sweet! I've a fair number of wing stretch shots of this species...but none with such a perfect head angle. It's the combination of both features, plus the low angle work that makes this rock. Have you considered just a slight counter clock wise rotation?

Great wing stretch, not a pose seen very often. I think it would have been nicer if you had just been a tad higher, I normally love a low POV, but maybe in this occasion its a bit too low for me.

Otherwise perfect!

I just love this. There is something so soft and gentle and dreamy about this image.
IQ and pose are awesome.
I would rotate this clockwise ever so slightly.
A beauty daniel!

That's quite a wing. Great low POV and head angle. I like Grace's crop suggestion.

Love the pose and the IQ.
Wish there was a bit more in focus in front though, maybe a bit higher?....

I like the out stretched wing, HA, IQ and BG. I like Grace's comp suggestion. Excellent as always Daniel.

Simply beautiful Daniel. The pose, colors and the details are perfect. I agree with Grace on taking from the bottom and adding to the top if you have it. Very nice

He he...sometimes maybe I need to leave the shovel home:t3. I don't have any more room above but it would be very easy to extend the canvas - good comp suggestion guys. Thanks everyone!

Wonderful low angle, I like the way the wing gently touches the ground. A very nice transition in the background.
