The reflected light looks like eyes, which certainly makes these guys fit the theme. And they do look ghostly.

I love the colours and agree with Dennis about the eyes. Tough getting a shot through glass. Perfect for the theme.

Little "ET's" floating down from the Mother Ship! Great wispy tentacles (?) and the soft shapes add to the other-worldly feel. I like those two sneaking into the image from the bottom left.

Ghosts they are! eerie. Love the background color, and the light glow (reflection) that make it look like eyes.

The lights really do look like eyes, as stated above. I have tried many times to get photos of jellyfish but its always to dark and flashes are useless. perfect for theme

Definitely ghostly looking with the eyes added by reflections.

Dennis, Jackie, Nancy, Mitch, Paul Judy,

Thanks much for your comments. They are much appreciated. I should say that the eyes are formed by the denser portion of the jellyfish which being less translucent appears brighter in the ambient light (strictly speaking these are reflected light as anything reflects light but not reflections per se). One of the things that makes the Monterey Bay Aquarium such a wonderful facility is the lighting design of their exhibits. In this exhibit they use a background blue light with what I guess you would call an orange key light to pop the what would be hard to see jellyfish.

An unprocessed shot:

Little light and moving subject through aquarium glass so the settings tell the tale.

For the OP I found a grouping that were all side views to get the middle parts to line up as eyes.

Cheers,

-Michael-

Very cool, even like the grain/noise. Love the translucency of the jf. Thanks for the back-story.
