Another one of our time with the large pack in the Timbavati Game Reserve. These are a couple of members of the pack we saw playing in the water in the morning. We went back at the start of the afternoon game drive and found them mostly resting in the shade. They did make a half-hearted chase of a warthog that wandered too close but then quickly returned to the shade of the tree. This is ff and composed in the field.

Canon 5D3
300 II
1/640
f6.3
ISO 800
Beanbag from safari vehicle, levels, curves, selective color, sharpened in CCPS.

C&C welcome and appreciated. Thanks,

Rachel

Hi Rachel, certainly a good day was had for both us & the Warthog, he was able to see another day.

Perhaps just sliding back in the seat may have given you that fraction more space in the framing on the RHS, the nose does look a tad close to the trim if this is FF? My only thought just to create a bit more depth & interest, is to drop the exposure overall, but mask the FG dog. I think it also helps separation too, the light, although true, is just too even and I personally feel it would help, but again, just my take. Perhaps also just in the RAW adjust the HSL to bring a tad more warmth to the FG dog only.

OK, this does start to move away slightly, but if it helps the overall image & moves it along...

Sounds like a good morning was had, Rachel.
Good suggestions from Steve. I too wish for a hint more space RHS for the BG dog, but not a deal-breaker.

I love the detail and the relaxed stare, Rachel! The colors look just a tad 'flat' but it's probably just me. Nice one!

Hi Rachel,
I like the cool feel to the image and the contrast between the two. Gives the impression of taking turns for standing watch. IQ looks good as usual.
