Not a common bird in these parts, so I was pleased to get a nice pose from her late one afternoon in July. Some time back I posted a shot of one of her offspring.

D7000, 700mm, ISO 800, 1/800s @ f/7.1 manual.

PS. Title should read Dickcissel female.

Bill:

I fixed the title.

Sharp, well exposed, nice head angle. I like how the berries look almost like a bracelet.

For personal taste, I might try a minor crop from the left, and perhaps a sliver off the top at same time.

Cheers

What a cute little bird, I have never heard of it, it looks very much like our house sparrow but with a little yellow here and there. Good pose and the perch is interesting, I don't think the image is over exposed but I would suggest lowering the overall brightness a little on the bird.

Beautiful image of this attractive bird, Bill. Nice detail, quality of light, head turn and exposure spot on. Agree with Randy on crop suggestions.

Thanks guys. Good suggestions. Here's a repost with a slightly tighter crop left and top, and a Curves adjustment to pull down the highlights.

Jonathan, this bird is exactly the same size as a House Sparrow, but with slightly different proportions, and those yellow touches. The male is considerably more striking, but couldn't be located the day I found this female and her two offspring.
