When mom Grey Heron arrived home, these three chicks got so excited that there was complete chaos. I have shots of the actual feeding behaviour, but most of the chicks heads are hidden behind wings and the other siblings. Taken early morning at the University of Pretoria sports grounds.

Great that we can see all the heads and the eyes here Stuart. I can imagine the noise and the danger to the juvies when the parent comes in with food. Those beaks are like daggers. The techs and details look great and I like the raised crest of the adult. Well done.

Fabulous image Stu, I like the eye contact on all 4 birds, their open beaks and clear view of the necks.

Lovely scene, well photographed Stu! The mom looks baffled - I would be too, having to decide who gets fed first! :t3

Stu your heron shots are amazing I have never seen herons so well illuminated, the light is perfect. The details in the heads are excellent, the eyes really catch my attention.

A beauty Stu, wonderful interaction. Amazing that you caught all the heads in a nice position. Your image make me eager for our similar herons to nest.

You captured a great family story here, Stuart. Those chicks can be so vicious!! I might burn the nest twigs just a bit.

I just love this image Stu. Great interaction and so wonderful to see all the heads clearly.
The positioning of the birds in a circle is very appealing.
I like how the entire nest in included in the frame.
IQ excellent.
