This was taken in February at Santa Elena, Costa Rica. Light, wind and BG were an issue but I was still glad to get this image. Any comments are appreciated.

Sharp with a good EXP. I love the beautiful bird. The steep shooting angle and the berries right in front of the tail distract....

Thanks Arthur. I had to stand on top of a hill to get the steepness down to this level and moving either direction to the side introduced other blocking elements. Its one of those times you make the best of far from perfect situation.

Wow, perfect focus & detail Jim! The berries in front of the tail do not bug me too much as it does not appear to be hiding anything of interest. I rather find the dark-ish spot above the head to be a little distracting and if it was mine I probably would have lightened it up just a little. But all in all a beautiful environmental pic, well done! :5

Jim my eyes stay on the excellent image quality of the bird especially the head, don't think I would have noticed the little nits if they had not been pointed out ,great piece of work.
Cheers Keith.

I have been doing this for a while :S3: so I understand fully. You did quite well. And it is a gorgeous bird.

Beautiful! The colors of the perch fit with the bird, and the soft BG detail is very nice. Wonderful sharpness!

Bummer about the obstructed tail, but I understand the situation and this is still a magnificent image. I really like the colours of the berries matching the subject, pretty cool.

Hi Jim, I havent seen this species before, and I really like the greens on him. Great detail throughout, sharp, and the lighter BG works well.

Hi Jim , good job on exposure and getting all the nice colors and detail . Shooting angle not ideal, not much to do afterwards about that .
Gorgeous bird.

Good stuff. just enough detail in the back ground too. Like it.

Beautiful bird, great pose, nice detail. POV and obstruction noted, but given the difficulties inherent in shooting tropical birds, this is very nicely done. Would love to see this species one day; one I've missed in my few southern jaunts.
