This small Brook Stickleback (Culaea inconstans) was photographed in my 2.5 gallon aquarium setup. 1D IV, 100 mm macro, 1/125, f/16, ISO 320, 2 radio-triggered 430EX flashes (manual mode, diffused), auto-focus, hand held. I removed some of the floating bits of debris in the water and ran nr on the background. All comments are welcome and appreciated.

Nice one Steve
We only have the three and 10 spined sticklebacks over here. ( We.d call this one a 5 spined I suppose !!!)

For my taste just right, a clean but not too clean image, even lighting and pin sharp, a very natural looking backdrop. Yep for me you nailed it Steve.

I love your tank work Steve--as I have said of this type of work before it brings to our eyes things we rarely see.

Nice image Steve. It appears as though the head is a bit away from you. Just wish the body was parallel to the camera.
(or perhaps my eyes are deceiving me!?)

Thanks for the comments, John, Jon, Ron, and Kaushik!

Kaushik: I think the fish is pretty square to the camera (in order for both head and tail to be within the DOF) - though I can see what you mean. Maybe there is a bit of optical illusion going on here. (?) :S3:
