Hello it is me again breaking the african cycle with fresh North Sea image from my beloved seals .
This time a Harbour Seal .
Posted already another frame from this guy , some weeks ago .
Image taken on Helgoland Island .

Like this frame because of that nice frame of flowing /splashing water over the head.

Canon EOS 1Dx
EF 500 IS L
Tripod

F 8 ; Iso 1250 ; 1/1000 sec

Processed with Canon DPP 4 and PS CC ; cropped for comp and want to include the water droplets on top . Changed my workflow slightly , hope you do not see that :bg3:. Doing more in the RAW conversion now and less in PS .

Thanks for watching and commenting to my previous thread , coming back later to others , well maybe .

Cheers Andreas

Hi Andreas - great that you can view the face clearly through the splash in the surf. Good control of the highlights in the water. Nice tones and color. I understand that you wanted to keep the water droplets in on top but I feel like it needs more room at the bottom for the seal to surf into. Overall, a fun image.

Rachel

thanks Rachel , on bottom in the Raw file is just mushed sandbank , so not really a room to swim into . At the bottom of this frame you can already see the mushy sand starting to appear, in LLC.

Thanks again , Andreas

I like it, great control of the hilts in the water. Nice action and detail. The only thing I would maybe suggest is if you want to keep all the droplets on top is to add more space all around....Does the sun ever shine at the place you shoot these Seals:t3:bg3:

Thanks Dumay for comment, for me there is no need of more space .I agree a bit more on bottom would be nice , but is i said to Rachel it is a very abrupt break with OOF sandbank on the bottom of the frame , so i cropped to avoid this.Sadly i couldn`t get lower.

And yes i was really lucky with the weather this time .......:t3, shooting in mostly heavy overcast and rainy conditions . But will post one sunny image as proof for you , tonight .So that you see the sun could be out there ,

Wow this is cool Andreas, I like the splash of water with the face showing nicely, the PP looks great and good exposure. I am OK with the comp.

Natural environment shots like this always grab my attention over portrait styles, and this is no exception. I really like your timing with the water almost looking like he's wearing a hat!

As a fellow northern European shooter I feel your pain with the all too often lack of sunshine!

Hi Mike thanks for your comment , and thanks for your feeling about the missing sun from time to time .

Andreas, are you planning on coming over to Donna Nook at all this year? I want to go at some point, and was wondering if you have any pointers - I can get loads of 'viewing' information, but reliable specialist photo advice is a bit lacking
