The clematis has bloomed wonderfully this year, and makes for good photography opportunities with flowers at eye-level. Here's one I photographed while it was till "fresh". I tried many settings with apertrure and flash and this one had the best compromise of dof and lighting to my eye.
Canon 7D + 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/4, ISO 800. Fill-flash @ -2/3 FEC, handheld, FF image, some cleanup done on the deeper burgundy parts via clone and spot-removal tools.
