The clematis has bloomed wonderfully this year, and makes for good photography opportunities with flowers at eye-level. Here's one I photographed while it was till "fresh". I tried many settings with apertrure and flash and this one had the best compromise of dof and lighting to my eye.

Canon 7D + 100mm f/2.8 macro lens, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/250s., f/4, ISO 800. Fill-flash @ -2/3 FEC, handheld, FF image, some cleanup done on the deeper burgundy parts via clone and spot-removal tools.

Daniel, this is a most dramatic image with the color combination. The clematis appears to be emerging from the mist.

Just wonderful! I'm not a fan of local sharpening, but wonder how it would look with a touch on he white center things (I'll never get flower anatomy). Maybe a bit of Nik Detail Extractor, too?

But just for playing around -- this is a 9.8 out of 10. But why not go for 11?

Gorgeous, this one gets my vote. Love those purples.
