Hi Stuart, the image is very saturated I suspect this is your intention. As an artistic presentation I think it has merit.
Now showing my lack of artistic appreciation I would suggest the colours for a natural history presentation are a little too dense. I wonder if a little more exposure would lift the image a little. The green background appears a little heavy for my taste, the yellows look good and the centre of the flower looks as though it is underexposed. From a compositional point of view it looks a little tight on both sides and at the base it is a pity the flowers are bisected. Please feel free to disagree, as I am sure others may do also.

I like the approach and idea--nice contrasting colors between the phlox, the black-eyed Susan and the oof foliage. I think Jon has some good suggestions.
