Lock 60 on the Scuykill Canal, Pennsylvania. Still works, opened once a month.

Processed in Elements 10: crop, skew, clone; selective darken and lighten; Topaz Adjust: recover highlights and simple details; CEP: darken/lighten cente; two textures: "Softly Blurred Edge" and "Venus Envy" by Shadowhouse Creations.

Wow, amazing it still operates from the look of it. You caught it on a good light day, too. The reflection is good, even through the mossy stuff on top of the water.

Love the earth tones and the framing Anita. Lovely work.

Anita, I like this one a lot. Rich colors and textures, not an easy location for natural light. I think the green in the water balances the frame along with the reflection, but to find the green horizontal space at the top a bit strong. Thoughts on cropping?

Thank you all for comments.
Randall: I like having some green at the top. Maybe I could crop some off the top but leave some of the green. Would making the green at the top lighter help?

I'd go with the green at the top, very nice image. Love the colors and the different tones in the stones and the wood. Well done

I think you need some green at the top. cropping at the wooden railing seems to me to be cut short.

Thank you Paul and Hazel. I'm keeping the green. I'm always interested in the differences in what we like.

Anita,

Greetings. A lot of interesting elements, the dark reflection, the patterns of the wood & stone against the greenery. I would be inclined to darken the foreground which I think would accentuate the 3D aspect. What I had in mind:

143036

A darkened layer (I used curves) with a gradient blending just the bottom. It's subtle... take a look side by side.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers,

-Michael-

Yes. I see what you mean. I think your version does make it look more 3D. Thanks. :-)
