Gotta love these guys. As I hunkered down on the sand last week, this Oystercatcher walked right past me, almost filling the frame. I had to add canvas left and top (very slight crop on right and bottom). Light was low, before the sun burned off the early morning haze.

Great shot Bill. Excellent detail. I really like the wave breaking on its foot. Its amazing how some oystercatchers will walk within 6 or 7 feet of you and others wont let you get within 100 yards.

Nice looking frame Bill. I love these guys and the first time I was able to see and shot them was at Fort Desoto this spring. They were very cooperative there letting us get within a few feet of them. I like the exposure and detail in this and the foot going thru the water adds to the frame. Well done

Hi Bill, great low eye level perspective, and overall well exposed. Just enough space in the FG, and I do like the 'bubbling' effect of the water.

Magnificent image of beautiful Oystercatcher showing his beautiful colors and eye. Love the low shooting angle, nice BG and FG.

Hi Bill , very nice overall image with good tone/colors , pleasing BKG and i really like the mushy FG , no big deal for the ´missing ´feet .

Hi Bill. Great low angle shot, even too much:S3:. Like the natural light and color of the bird. It's sharp. Like the eye contact too. Thanks for sharing! Cheers! Miro

Very nice, and a wonderful angle! I wonder if a bit more contrast or detail could be found in the very plain area at the bottom? Or just darken it a little.

I like the walking pose. I find the image a bit flat and wonder if adding a bit of black or increasing the contrast would help.
The water splash behind the leg is a nice touch,
Gail

Some good points above. I'm not a fan of sand becoming blockblurred in sharp relief to the focal plane. A slightly higher shooting angle may have been better but looking through the view finder this may have been difficult to determine. A nice image all the same.

Thank you all. Yes, a slightly higher POV and/or a little texture to the sand might have helped.

Very nice, Bill. They were very relaxed around us allowing for some good close images. I like the wave splashing against the back leg too.
