How does he do that?

From High Island Rookery in April. Removed several distracting sunlit twigs and a leaf. Cropped from horizontal.

Nice looking display frame Bill and I like the exposure control and the detail in the feathers and the face. Feels a bit cramped as the branch in front of him makes things tighter.
Maybe loosen it up a bit, otherwise all looks good.

It always amazes me that such a relatively 'plain' bir can put up such nice displays. Pity about the branch in front but that's beyond your control. Nice focus & handling of whites combined with darks!

great exposure and details, stands out nicely against dark BG. I agree with Dave that it is a bit tight in the frame

Thanks guys. Here he is with a square crop, which I normally avoid but it does give him a little more room. Perhaps I might have moved him a fraction to the left. I don't have any room at top.

Spectacular image, Bill Sir.
Love the beautifully exposed whites with great details and wonderful breeding plumage display.

Agree with comments above especially your exposure of the whites. Like the repost. In this image I think the square crop works.
