Image captured yesterday in a local preserve. These sparrows have a remarkable portion of their call sounding very insect like. All c&c welcome.

D700, Nikon 500mm +1.4x, 1/640, f6.3, ISO 640, audio, Gitzo tripod, Wimberley Gimbal Head. Removed some distracting blades of grass and extra stem from perch in cs6.

One of my favorite sparrows. Your bird is superbly photographed in a natural habitat and the purple flowers add the perfect pop.

Excellent both bird and back drop. Maybe the bird or whole shot could do with a little more" oomph" without getting more technical !! (darker) Just my view.
Cheers

Hi Geoffrey, lovely calling pose, and I like the high placement in the frame. Just enough grasses in the FG to work nicely, and agree, the OOF purple flowers add to the overall image.

Before reading John's comment, I also thought toning down the overall image wont harm it. :w3

Lovely image. The purple flowers really add some nice color.
Perfect singing pose.
I would sharpen the head and eye area a little bit more,
Gail

Nice singing pose, perch, perfect head angle. Love those purple flowers, and the curved grass touching the perch is neat. One of my favorite sparrows too, great job with it.

Beautiful shot of this guy, Geoffrey. Hard little fellows to capture, but this one posed nicely for a few moments. Love the clover and grass in the bg. Some good comments above.

Thanks everyone for your comments and spot on observations. John I looked at this image after PP and wasn't sure if it needed more punch, but it certainly did in hindsight. Gail you are correct……did need bit more sharpening around head and eye. Here is a repost.
