Nice catch (both you and the heron). The open mouth of the fish somehow adds to the image to me. Please consider a minor crop from the bottom to remove the out of focus rock area just at the edge of the frame. It may not work well but, this is such a strong image removing any distraction is usually a good idea. Alternatively, you could clone it out very easily using some of the other rock in the scene. Great photograph.

Thanks for the suggestion Joe. I was wondering about that oof rock. Here is a repost with it cloned out.

Yeah! I like it better that way. Nice shot. Also consider flipping it horizontally. I don't know if you are willing to distort nature that way but, I think it would read better. In most cultures, we scan images left to right. Seeing the fish and beak first would benefit this image. Just food for thought.

Very nice image. The repost addresses my concerns.
I like the good view of the fish.
Was the scene this dark? I feel this could go a bit brighter.
I also find all the little spots in the water a bit distracting.
I would clone some of them out - not all just enough to minimize the busyness and stay fairly true to the scene,
Gail

Terrific timing, and good head angle on the fish. Repost helps, and Gail offers some good additional suggestions. A fine image that might become even finer.

Great pose of both bird and fish and excellent detail! Great to see the feet!
