This hungry Pine Warbler found what it thought to be an easy meal in this fly trapped in a spider's web. The web had a lot of elasticity to it and it was neat to observe the warbler pulling on the strand only to have it stretch without snapping the prey item off. It "fought" with the web for a bit then had a good snack as a reward.

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/160s., f/5.6, ISO 800, natural light, handheld through my car's open hatchback door, small crop for comp, cloned out an oof branch in LLC, usual eye work. Subject initially attracted via audio but did not take to my setup perch...this naturally chosen one was a good alternative :-)

I really like the behavior shown here.
This is a really nice natural perch because the size suits the bird.
Great BG is a bonus as well!
Amazing sharpness for such a low SS in a fast moving warbler.

Opportunistic behavior nicely captured. Low light handled nicely. Like the clean perch and bg. Would have liked some more life/depth in the eye.

Great behavior shot, Daniel. They might even use the spider web for nest building after the snack is done.

Wonderful! What would you think about darkening the brighter green area in the LL? And maybe a slight pop in exposure for the rest?

Great capture, Daniel! Sharp where it counts and lovely natural colours, well exposed and processed, the "snack" is a bonus!

Always a pleasure viewing your images,

Kind regards,
