Another bird that I had the pleasure to see and photograph for the fist time this year.:t3

I don't recall seeing a photograph of this specie here at BPN. This is a bird in its habitat and not a portrait.

For this one I used

600f/4
1D4
Hand held from a rocking boat!
ISO 800
SS 1/1000
f/7.1
Fill flash
DPP and PS CS6

Thanks for looking and your input.

Very nice Juan Carlos - you have some cracking species there in CR! Typical bittern pose and I really like the yellowy grass in this

Yes, I agree with Greg, this is typical bittern pose and you catch it well. Like the composition and you resolve harsh light and shadow well. TFS & cheers! Miro

Hi Juan, like the posture of the subject within the frame, quite a 'vibrant' setting. :c3: Background separates the subject nicely IMHO.

A new species for me!
Nice environmental shot.
Normally I would like to see more room at the bottom for the :virtual" feet and body but this works very well as is.
Good IQ on the bittern and I like the mottled BG,
Gail

I like this very much Juan Carlos - a classic capture. I expect your bitterns are as shy and elusive as here. Love the environment. Well done. TFS. Ian

Awesome species and I love the environmental feel with the light filtering through the blades of grass. Excellent.

Love the setting, and I like the bittern's pose. Cropped just right at bottom - could use a tad more top and right if you have it, but still good as is.
