The first time one ever hears this species' song must wonder if it is even something real being heard! Not sure how easy it will be to see here on a resized for web version but check out the bonus slug photo-bombing the image!

Canon 7D + 500mm f/4 II + 1.4TC, manual exposure, evaluative metering, 1/640s., f/10, ISO 400, natural light, handheld, cropped for composition, setup and attracted to perch via audio.

Simply lovely. Great pose, perch. Love the trefoil leaves to balance the left side, and of course the slug. Not to mention the nice light and silky green BG. I heard one of these guys singing in the deep woods yesterday, and got a glimpse of him, but couldn't entice him into the open. Their two-toned flute sound is indeed ethereal.

Wow, one amazing Veery shot, Daniel. The setting could not have been better.
