Hi Binu, we all strive to capture some BIF across the sun or moon, and you seemed to have nailed this nicely. I like the flight pose, especially with the head and bill silhouetted against the sun. If this were mine, I would try a version with 'darkening' the Tern a touch more. Lovely colour to the sky.

Hi Binu, Great capture, you are either very lucky or very hard working, perhaps both which is a happy coincidence. This is a nice demonstration of the scattering of light by the fine structure of the feathers around the edges of the bird.

Well done but for the ghostly haloing.... If you really want to nail these you need to shoot much darker.... That means if you create images of the bird without the sun in the frame they will be pretty much black.....

I have to say I am not loving this one. I feel the tern has to be much darker so that we only see a black silhouette.
I do appreciate the skill it took though to get this guy sharp in the frame against the sun,

Impressive shot. How did you look straight at the sun with a 400mm lens and not burn your retinas?

Thanks! It was not very risky as this was captured around sunset and I didn't stare directly at the sun for too long. This shot was taken a few years ago and so far my eyes seem to be ok :) But I'm not going to do it again if I need to look though the viewfinder to get the shot.
