This Reed Cormorant was fishing fairly close to me, and I was quite pleased when I got this frame, as they dont normally toss their food up in the air. Taken early morning at my local pond a two weekends ago.

Nice split second capture, Stuart! It was probably trying to turn it so it could swallow it head first!

Not sure what pp you've done - it looks quite 'contrasty' but it could be an illusion because of the water on the dark feathers. Nice shot, well done!

Thanks Tobie. I apply very little constrast, and at most times, none at all. It could be the dark wet plumage giving off the 'constasty' feel.

Thank you Binu.

KO to Mr Bowie! Super timing and composition.

Wet feathers often look like they have been over sharpened because the water and oil on their surface covers the feather barbs and makes them behave more like little specular reflectors. I think that is what we are seeing here. Nice action Stuart.

Great timing and congrats and thanks on the 17K posts. Great timing and open bill. The wet look also makes the image look a bit less than razor sharp.

Congrats on 17,000 posts Stuart! It is so nice to have you as a moderator on BPN. Appreciate the work involved.
Nice image but wish the fish head was pointing our way.
I also feel it needs a bit of CW rotation.

Congrats Stuart!! Wow, what a great asset you are to this forum and your efforts are appreciated.
The shot is pretty cool and fun to view. I too wish the fish was turned around but still a great capture on your part. Well done and look forward to many more.
