Apologies for yet another Black Grouse but this will be the last one. Just occasionally the Greyhens will come into the lek in bright sunlight and when they do the cocks display and "flutter jump" all over the place giving opportunities if you are quick enough.

Thank you for your comments on my last post and thank you for looking.

Absolutely stunning! Couldn't have been timed/captured any better. Pose, overall setting and sharpness are great. Love the fg dry grass and the bg color. Your low shooting angle contributes to the success of this image. I'd open up the shadows on the belly just a tad, if possible. Congrats on a fine image!

Can't fault it, Andrew. Your exposure control is excellent, with some great detail in both the blacks and the whites. The calling pose and swept back wings make for a cracking action shot.

I love the dynamic pose and the BG, the environment is great too, the open beak adds to the dram. The red channel in the crown are blown a bit. Some of the blacks (lower chest and tail area) have no detail. I would try to recover a bit.

A fine image.
I like the light and the BG colors very much. The grasses really make the image.
A great pose and behavior shown.
The blacks are blocked and I would see if you could get a bit more detail.

Splendid capture despite the minor technical issues identified by Gail and Arash. Well done!

Andrew this could be a competition winner - great pose and super background. I would definitely have another look at the raw conversion and get some more detail in the blacks. The red comb and the white feathers (upper part) are slightly blown, I am sure these are also recoverable. Well done a super shot.

Hi Andrew, very well timed - you were obviously ready for the behaviour, and what a great feeling when you nail it too. I like the hint of blue iridescence on the neck, and agree to try and tease more detail out the blacks. Just love the colour of the grassy BG - sets the grouse off very well.
