I visited my local pond in Pretoria yesterday morning and came away with this Darter managing some breakfast. Whilst not the best HA to show of his catch, this was the best he gave me from numerous shots before it went down the hatch. Taken early morning.

Very nice detail showing how the fish was skewered - I have not seen this captured quite so well before. All good, TFS.
Cheers, Ian

The angle of the fish is great and I like the open mouth. The Darter looks good also. I wish it had a little better HA but I think the fish makes up for it. Nice capture for both of you Stuart. TFS

Nice one, Stuart! As sharp as it gets - and a split second of action well captured!

Hi Stu - it may not be the best HA for the darter but it is the best for showing the skewered technique and the HA on breakfast is good. Great behavioral image. There's a slight halo on the top of the darter's head.

TFS,
Rachel

Nice capture. I'd prefer a little more room on the bottom and a better head angle from the bird. It is always impressive to see these birds coming up with a fish. TFS.

Excellent shot Stu, I don't mind the head angle at all, I think this is a powerful image.

Great action shot! I wish you got it with a better HA, but the action makes up for it! TFS

Thats a cracking pic of a bird in action. I don't really understand how the head angle could be much better, ! But then i,m a thicki I know nothing !
How do you determine when a picture is "perfect " -and in who's eyes ?
Beyond me.
