I found these birds very difficult to photograph because they were always on the move an in and out of the foliage. Taken at Kanadukattan, Tamil Nadu, India.
5D3 100-400 @400 f7.1 1/250 iso100. Cropped, sharpened with selective sharpening of head and eye. The very low iso was because I had set it to auto, a bit of a throwback to film days for me where low iso gave the sharpest results.

Hi Colin, stunning bird and lovely colours. I really like the BG. IMO, the IQ on the head seems to have suffered a bit though. TFS

it's a handsome bird but the harsh/contrasty light and poor IQ holds this one back. ISO 100 and slow shutter speed will make you miss many shots due to motion blur.

Pretty nice setting here with impressive flowers. Harsh light quality did not help you. As Arash mentions, don't be afraid to crank up the ISO even when the light is strong...
