Canon 1D-X with 400mm 5.6 @ f/8, 1/2000 sec, ISO 800 (shot accidentally in JPEG)

I have tried a bit unconventional composition, not leaving much gap towards the bird's viewing direction, hoping to catch viewer's attention to open beak.

Really appreciate C&C, especially on composition.

Nice head angle, open bill, pop of color from purple flowers, good shooting angle.

I am ok with the comp, because of the plant material to the right of the birds tail, tends to visually extend the bird slightly. I probably would have cropped from the right more if not for that material.

Welcome to BPN Sridatta!! Love the spring feel to the image (I usually see them with snow still on the ground). I like the calling pose and perch (although I'd tidy up a couple of pieces of debris on it). Was the bird attracted via audio?

These birds were on top of a hill, about 2000 ft high. They weren't that keen in responding to calls, probably because they were already paired. We tracked down couple of their favorite rocks (based on the poop factor), tracked their movements and waited.

Beautiful setting displayed here. Light is a bit harsh but adds dimension. Fine job.
