Here's a shot I took near San Antonio on 11/27/05 shortly after sunrise. I've considered different placement of the deer in the frame but somehow always seem to come back to his being centered. Any thoughts?

Nice shot and great detail in the deer. I think the centered subject works because he is facing the viewer.

Wow, what a beautiful animal! I agree with Dan. With this head position, any other comp wouldn't look correct in my opinion. Very nice capture!

I like the sunrise rays on the BG upper third as it is a nice ROT placement. i like how you left the deer and FG brightness level subdued as it would have been naturally instead of bringing it up in PS.

As far as cropping, with the head direction and the group of grasses at the deers back-end, try exploring cropping from the left if you had not done so already. Nice work.

I' m a deer photographing fanatic.. This is a fine speciman indeed. The comp is a bit static with the centered subject. You could put him off center. Crop a bit off the left that we he is looking into the frame. In some cases a BG lighter than your subject can be a problem but here it seems to work. The antlers are hightlighted against the bright BG. Well done...
