Flipped Trees

I've been looking at these trees for years and finally stopped and photographed them. Because the left side had the road and other stuff I didn't want in the photo, I copied and flipped the right side, moving it over to become the left side. This is a first for me. I did some cloning, darkening, lightening. I added three textures: "Free Texture" by Distressed jewel (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jewellofdistressed/4700739465/in/photostream/), "Texture 282" (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lenabem-anna/8665879341/in/photostream/lightbox/) and Grandpa's Cedar and Suede (Blurred) by Distressed Jewell (http://www.flickr.com/photos/jewellofdistressed/11328551834/in/photostream/).
As always, I welcome your honest opinions and suggestions.

Anita, this is pretty cool. The flip looks like it created a road of sorts leading the eye into the stand of trees. Overall the image has good balance, composition and wonderful grunge tones. The processing also created what appear to be rust spots, which imparts a feeling of an old painting done on a thin steel plate, all it needs are holes stamped into the corners (or 1 in the top center) to hang from! Well done.

I haven't had time to comment much lately but have to say I love this one! (Welcome to the Wild Side!) I'd love to see it as a horizontal just so I could get more involved in the trees -- they look awesome! It could have a Pictorialist quality, or that of an encaustic.

The flipped trees are fantastic! Love the look of bony, gnarled fingers reaching up out of the earth from the old corn field. And yet deep in the center is almost a heart-shape, life being protected for spring emergence. The subtle vignette and the corn rows gently guide your eye deep into the image. The textures & lines in the sky add a dynamic of weather. Wonderful image and full of symbolism for me. I definitely see that "other worldly" feel that Cheryl noticed.

Very nice Anita, the flip works well and the textures really impart a painterly look to the image. I agree with Diane's comment about the wax painting look, that's very cool!
