A very memorable encounter with this female Northern Harrier in SoCal with David Salem.
Very low light, and it shows, but this is the closest I've been to a harrier - what a great and memorable experience for me. Thanks Dave! I'll be back for more soon, hopefully in better light :S3:

Cropped from left and right from FF shot horizontal
NR on BG and light NR on the bird too.

Canon 1D4, 700mm

Many thanks for all your helpful critiques.

Excellent capture, Sidharth. A perfect display of the dorsal side, and head position. I like the low light quality and warmth. Well done.

Very nicely done under tough conditions, Sid. Love the pose and head turn.

Don't apologize. For me it's the quality of the light that makes it. I love it.

I love the light here Sid, the IQ looks very good to me especially the bird.
The BG has a terrific color and with a bit more NR (something like Topaz), one would never notice
the high iso.
It look great as is…..

Great photo, Sidharth! Don't know how you've managed this POV but the perception is that you've done it from above the bird - it works for me! Nice eye contact too! :5

Very good flight image. It is quite tough to get close to these guys. I like the dorsal view and the clean complementing BG. Well done.

Maybe low light but you have certainly finished with a fine looking image, I would be thrilled to bits if it was mine.

What I like the best about this image is the NOT blown white tail feathers.
The light was your friend here.
Love the top down view on this raptor,
Gail

Hi Sid, one would never know this was captured in low light, and an outstanding result with that ISO - great work. I love the banking angle showing the dorsal view, and the BG compliments the harrier so well. Well captured.

Way late to the party Sid, been out of town and didnt see this one. That was a cool encounter you had as this Harrier flew close laps around you. Too bad it wasn't 15 min earlier but looks like you made the most of it with a few great looking posts. Looks great and the high IOS isnt even seen in this nice frame. Hope you can make it back out this season. Take care.
