This is the first time I've managed to get reasonably close to these in decent light - and then went and blew some of the highlights! Still, I like it because of the environment. All crit welcome.

Canon 1d3, 40mm f5.6L, 1/500th f5.6 ISO 800. About a 50% crop, PP was mainly attempting to recover some of the whites and the lowering of the contrast

Great looking bird, well done, Mike.

I can understand why you like the environment here. I have done a quick RP with a different crop which still gives you the environment but tightens it up a tad. Just a different perspective.l

Sharp and a great bird but the over-exposed WHITEs are fatal. Did you try saving them with a Linear Conversion?

Thanks for the comments and hints everyone.

Marina - I didn't want to go too tight as I've only used a 1d3 so cropping isn't it's strongest point and I'd already chopped a fair bit off.

Artie - I really need to learn more PP stuff, I've never even heard of linear conversion. I'll do some more research, thanks

Mike. I know how to do them with a BreezeBrowser conversion and in DPP but am not sure if they can be done in ACR. If anyone knows, please chime in.
